“Irish South & West Fishermens Organisation welcome the appointment of Pat "the Cope" Gallagher.”

The Irish South and West Fishermen’s Organisation (IS&WFO) have welcomed today’s announcement of the appointment of Mr. Pat “the Cope” Gallagher as Marine Minister. Jason Whooley, Manager of the IS&WFO, said, “While we are disappointed that a stand alone Marine Department was not re-instated we welcome the appointment of Pat “The Cope” Gallagher as Marine Minister within the Department. This portfolio is extremely diverse and the multitude of problems has meant that the Marine sector has failed to get sufficient attention. We are hopeful however, that this issue will be overcome by the appointment of Pat “The Cope” Gallagher as Marine Minister. He has a wealth of knowledge of the fishing industry and being from Donegal is fully aware of it’s key importance to all coastal areas.” Mr. Whooley went on to add “We look forward to a productive working relationship with Mr. Gallagher and will be looking to meet him as soon as possible to highlight our key concerns.
